BOATS, PARKING & PROCEDURES

BOATS​

  1. Get sufficient training to unlock, prepare and move the boat(s) safely on it's sled to the water ramp

  2. Slip the boat into the waters of Lake Deston and tie it up

  3. NOSE POINTED OUT INTO THE LAKE

  4. Return the sled to the secured DB area.  Do not leave it at the doc, oor on any pavement

  5. Load immediately and push off.  ***IF THERE IS ANOTHER BOAT (fishing, kayak, air, canoe, sail etc) give them the right of way to launch and load BEFORE you proceed.

  6. Load quickly and push away. Leave launch canal

RETRIEVAL​

  1. Give "Right-Of-Way" to fishing boats that are launching OR retrieving at the same time as you're returning to shore.  Offer to help the, if needed.  

  2. Exit the boat, draw it onto the sled and IMMEDIATELY, return it per training to the DB storage area.

  3. Clean the boat, install the cover COMPLETELY, and LOCK IT UP.

  4. Report any damage or concerns immediately to Ron Schultz

ABSOLUTE MUSTS​​

  • You MUST  wear a approved PFD at all times in the boat

  • You MUST  have a safety kit in the boat at all times

    • The kit MUST  include a working horn & whistle in case of an emergency​

  • You MUST  leave the launch canal and paddle 100 Meters from the Fishing Dock before letting it run.​

  • You CAN NOT    paddle within 100M of a fishing boat

  • You CAN NOT   paddle within 50M of a recreational kayak or any other non-fishing boat

  • When returning to the dock, please respect the fisherment who maybe on the dock and keep the noise level to a minumum (NO SHOUTING)

PARKING & POLICY​​​

  • To accommodate ALL BOATERS using the lake we have agreed to:

    • Park ONLY in the area designated for Dragon Boaters

    • That area is SOUTH of the white restroom building (east side)

    • You may NOT PARK beyond the building or any closer to the lake​

    • Exceptions have been made for ADA compliance - BUT - you MUST have an approved, current, valid Handicap Tag or placard.

    • DO NOT PARK ON ANY PAVED SURFCE.  This is to accommodate boaters towing boats on trailers to have clear access and sufficient maneuvering room.     

  • If you are a member of the DRAGONEERS you MSUT have a DRAGONEER parking decal in the rear window or on the rear of your vehicle for instant observation and recognition​

  • If you violate the parking agreement the club has with the City of Wildwood you will be WARNED, then FINED, then REMOVED FROM THE TEAM by the Board.

  • WE ALL must HONOR THIS PARKING POICY AT ALL TIMES, NO MATTER THE DATE, WEATHER, OR TIME OF DAY.
