The DRAGONEERS offer four separate training and racing options for adult men and
women of all skill sets and ages.
● Dragon Boating on beautiful Lake Deaton, Wildwood Florida is a magnificent experience and it's open to any adult ( 21 and over) who is a resident of Sumter County or nearby.


 We offer the following options
 

RECREATIONAL PADDLING
■ Ideal for individuals or groups that want to stsy fit and esnjoy there time in the dragon boat. The Sumter County Dragon Boat Club will provide steerers for all practices and coaching if requested
■ Approved paddlers pay a small one-time use fee per event or monthly
dues if on the team.

 

DEVELOPMENTAL TEAM
■ This team is for men and women that want to learn the sport and develop the skills to race dragon boats with the Varsity Team
■ Those who select this “ team option” will be evaluated and assigned a training and skill development schedule to help them realize their goal…to race
■ The individual will be required to become a dues paying member of the DRAGONEERS and comply with the rules of conduct
■ The team will provide the paddler with the necessary equipment for their 1st three practices. Then the paddler will be required to bring
approved equipment ( paddle, PFD, and suggested seat cushion) to all practices
■ When the paddler has completed their assigned training routines they may request a tryout to join the Varsity

VARSITY TEAM
■ The club offers an outstanding racing opportunity to paddlers that join the VARISTY. Open to all paddlers that qualify, you can race in an ALL WOMENS, ALL MENS and MIXED boat (a combined men and women's) boat

■ The Varsity team races in 20 ans 10 person boat regattas throughout Florida.
■ All varsity paddlers must be approved dues paying members of the club and comply with all rules and training site regulations

TRAVELING VARSITY

■ For those Varsity Paddlers that can or wish to travel we offer the TRAVELING VARSITY option
■ Same as the varsity, but these paddlers can travel overnight or on short trips to highly competitive regattas. The Club will generally schedule 1-3 over night regatta traveling
opportunities per season
■ There are no additional fees or dues to be on this team.
■ The paddler will be responsible for all their travel expenses
