Inverness, FL
REGATTA 03/22/25

And we’re off”  the 2025 season begins. . .

The Warriors enter two boats at the Inverness Regatta. Traditionally the season's kick-off event. A Mens 20 and and a Womens 20.
The race was a 315 meter straight away SPRINT.

At race time the weather was very cool to  quite cold, but little wind, with ideal water conditions.

Each team would race 3 times (two qualifying) and the championship round.

Because of vacations, and prior personal commitments the men's boat was set with 16 men and four women. Essentially making it a mixed boat competing against an all men's team.

The men's boat went head to head with Blackheart. And in races one and two finished second. But the Warriors improved their time by almost 3 seconds, from race one to race two.

In the championship race, the Warriors took the start and held well, within 5 rows til the finish now command at 275 meters. Though the warriors boat picked up the stroke ( long and deep) Blackheart, with an all mens boat, pulled away.

The Warrior Men took silver with a time of 1: 28.24.

Overall that was the 5th best time out of 36 other teams, behind two  premier and two Blackheart boats in  the full days event.

The Warrior women put on a strong display of power and stamina. Winning the start in both race two  and three.  In the championship race (3)they led Blackheart, Dragon Sisters, NBP Dragons and Vogue Dragons at the 260 meter mark by half a boat. During the final 50 meters the field pulled  ahead of the Warriors boat.

The Warriors clocked a time of 12:38.67 for the championship 315m race.

Coach Lee Cerovac said in his post-race briefing, “For the 1st regatta of the 2025 season we showed that we are a solid club. We know what we need to do to close out these races."

We will train hard and we will get it done.
